red riding hood

What big arms you have.
All the better to hug you with.
Every wolf in the world now howled a prothalamion outside the window as she freely gave him the kiss she owed him.
What big teeth you have!
She saw how his jaw began to slaver and the room was full of the clamour of the forest's Liebestod, but the wise child never flinched, even when he answered:
All the better to eat you with.
The girl burst out laughing; she knew she was nobody's meat.

Cranky.

When listening to music, doesn’t it bother you when the lyrics sounds... a little off? With the prevalence of RnB, there’s no doubt that lots of dumb songs are blaring on radios (tippin’ in the club, tippin in the club, I’m rich bitch!). Those aren’t  meant to be understood anyway, it’s the tsug tsug that makes it good. Some though, appear to be sending a significant message by having more complicated words, including a complete sentence in a stanza, and attempting poetry.

“Do you ever feel like a plastic bag, drifting through the wind…”

The verse clearly meant feeling “insignificant” and lost, but why plastic bag? Plastic bags are useful, that’s why it’s popular albeit harmful to the environment.

“…wanting to start again.”

You mean if it wants to be recycled?

“Is it the look in your eyes, or is it this dancing juice?”

Lame personification of alcohol. Not everyone who drinks dance like crazy, some get emotional, drunk texts, beat their wives, pick up a fight, get horny etc. Or maybe ‘dancing juice’ refers to amphetamines diluted in Tropicana. Whatever, when I hear it, I immediately think of orange bottles with painted happy faces singing in a corny commercial.

“I’d catch a grenade for ya”

There are other ways of saying how you’ll do anything for the person that doesn’t involve violence. It so morbid, something a 12 year old gamer would say to his girlfriend.

I remember when I tried reading twilight to understand what the hype was all about and discovered how unbearable Stephanie Meyer's writing is. I'm no expert, but every time Edward enters a scene, there's about five paragraphs worth of descriptions about his 'godliness' 'coldness' 'perfect looks', which is totally beside the point especially during denouement, when the reader had already etched the character's image and is more concerned on the plot's resolution. The cheesy wordy dialogue made it worse,

"Sleep, my Bella. Dream happy dreams. You are the only one who has ever touched my heart. It will always be yours. Sleep, my only love."

best way to get over a woman is to turn her into literature -H.M.

All love is tragic.
Requited love dies of satiation,
unrequited of starvation.

The Sandman Series

I know it's a little late, but I just finished reading Neil Gaiman's The Sandman: Book of Dreams. Technically, It wasn't even written by him, except for the short introductions. The book is a collection of short stories by different authors who set their plots on Gaiman's created universe. I got hooked, now I have to read the 75 issues DC comic book! (I'm a sucker for this kind of stuff. Graphic novels are intelligent reading materials, all the violence, battling forces, smart dialogue, heroic disguises, they're foods for thought. You just have to read between the lines and ignore some of the sadistic humor. Really. I'm serious. I read Watchmen and Wanted before. I honestly think it's cool. Hehe!)

There are seven Endless,
Delirium who used to be Delight,
Desire, a hermaphoridte,
Despair, twin sister of Desire,
Destruction, prodigal brother
Destiny, the eldest
Dream, king of well, the dreaming world.
and Death.

"-I am anti-life, the beast of judgement. I am the dark at the end of everything. The end of universes, gods, worlds... of everything. And what will you be then, Dreamlord?
- I am hope."
